Kuwait’s Jazeera Airways Relaunches Direct Flights to Syria

(MENAFN) Kuwait’s Jazeera Airways has relaunched direct flights to Syria following a 13-year pause, Syrian media reported on Thursday.

As detailed by media, Syria's state news agency, the first flight from the Kuwaiti carrier touched down at Damascus International Airport on Wednesday.

The airline confirmed that services will begin with one flight per day, with plans to ramp up to two daily departures before the summer ends, according to media.

This move is part of broader regional efforts aimed at reintegrating Syria into the global aviation network, fostering both economic growth and boosting tourism.

Syria's leader, Bashar al-Assad, who had ruled for almost 25 years, fled to Russia in December, marking the end of the Baath Party regime, which had governed the country since 1963. A new transitional government, led by President Ahmad al-Sharaa, was established in January.
