Kuwait Set to Restore Full Government Operations May 3

(MENAFN) Kuwait announced Wednesday that all government entities will return to full staffing and standard working hours beginning Sunday, May 3, following a directive issued by the country's cabinet.

Media reported that the Civil Service Commission has mandated all ministries and public institutions to resume complete attendance and normal operations, including the reinstatement of regular duty schedules.

Public sector employees will transition back to the standard seven-hour workday, bringing an end to the reduced working hours that had been introduced in recent weeks. Authorities underscored the importance of strict compliance and called on all entities to ensure a seamless return to full operational capacity.

The announcement marks a formal rollback of precautionary measures Kuwait had enacted last month in response to heightened regional security tensions. Those measures had included restricting workplace attendance, shortening working hours, and shifting the country's education system to remote learning.

The return to normalcy signals Kuwait's assessment that the immediate security threat has sufficiently subsided to warrant a full resumption of civil operations — though the region's broader geopolitical landscape remains closely watched.
