Kuwait Reports Air Defense Interceptions Following Missile, Drone Alerts

(MENAFN) Kuwait’s armed forces said early Monday that its air defense systems were actively intercepting what it described as hostile missile and drone attacks after sirens sounded and emergency alerts were issued across the country.

In a statement, the General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army said any explosions heard in different parts of the country were linked to air defense systems engaging incoming aerial threats.

Authorities urged residents to follow safety instructions issued by official agencies and to remain cautious as the situation developed.

Earlier, mobile emergency alerts warned of “imminent danger,” advising the public to stay indoors, remain in safe locations, and avoid windows and exposed areas. The warning was issued by Kuwait’s Civil Defense under the Interior Ministry.

Local reports indicated that air defense activity was heard near the Jahra area, located west of Kuwait City.

At the time of reporting, officials had not disclosed the source of the alleged missile and drone threats, and there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
